Sequins, fringe, and tons of color sparked kooky designs worn by the stars on the red carpet at the 2018 People’s Choice Awards, but a classic contingent in elegant black also showed up in force. Celebrities gathered in Santa Monica, Calif. to honor the best in film, television, music and pop culture as voted by the general public. Leading the way in classic style was Victoria Beckham, who wore a crisply tailored white suit featuring an oversized blazer and tailored trousers.
“This is a suit I custom made for myself,” the Fashion Icon Award honoree said, adding that she’s going to include the design in her next collection. Beckham completed the look with a white lace camisole and black heels for a bit of contrast.
Elsewhere, Mila Kunis wore a minimalist square-neck black cocktail dress that sported spaghetti straps by Alex Perry. She paired sparkly Louboutin shoes with the outfit. Rounding out the classic crowd, Amber Valletta also chose a similarly simple silhouette with her sophisticated bright red Victoria Beckham mid-length evening dress with draped detail.
Most of the Kardashians downplayed their black tie looks and showed off a monochrome color scheme. Kris Jenner, ever the momager, wore a suit and sunglasses but her daughters stunned with their choices. Kendall lived up to her supermodel stature in an intricate top and trouser combination, while new mom Khloe selected a white ballgown. Kourtney chose a blazer dress with lace underlay.
It was Kim who stood out from the Kardashian crowd with an eye-catching sheer dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. An optical illusion detail accentuated her famous curves.
Versace was a popular designer on the red carpet. Scarlett Johansson favored a Versace jumpsuit with Nikos Koulis jewels. Rita Ora wore a light purple Atelier Versace gown with gold-leaf embellishments and boots from the Italian brand. She completed with look with diamond rings from Kallati, Marli New York and Le Vian.
Kooky looks along with superfluous sequins and unusual silhouettes ruled the red carpet. Aly Raisman flaunted a sparkly Balmain mini, while Danai Gurira made a statement in a beaded fringe and feathered Brock Collection dress with Christian Louboutin shoes. Shay Mitchell arrived in an asymmetric crimson frock by Australian designer Toni Matičevski with Vhernier gold earrings and Le Vian diamond rings.
Floral Dr. Martens boots completed the look for Busy Philipps, who wore a custom Christian Siriano frock with a Lala Léxa bag and Irene Neuwirth jewels. Susan Kelechi Watson chose Stella Luna shoes and jewels from Alexis Bittar and Ileana Makri, while Christina Hendricks sported a utility jumpsuit with patches and a Roberto Bravo ring and Alexis Bittar hoops.
A mammoth lab-grown pink diamond by Clean Origin adorned the hand of Camila Mendes, who wore an Etro dress. Sabrina Carpenter paired Brian Atwood shoes with her pinstripe suit. Kat Graham wore Borgioni earrings with a Chalayan dress. Esteban Cortazar was the choice of Betty Gilpin, and Tyga finished off his full leather look with Nikes.
