Hot weather is here, but wearing a mask is more crucial than ever. Because of the hot weather, wearing a mask is becoming hard to bear, as the mask traps in the air and makes it harder to breathe. Thankfully, there are ways to make masks more comfortable in the scorching heat.
Look For 100% Cotton
Cotton is a natural material that lets the skin breathe. This is important as the polyester and other synthetic fabrics trap the heat, which will cause you to feel even hotter. On the other hand, the cotton will allow the heat to circulate. Therefore a cotton mask will be more comfortable. However, make sure that your mask is effective as well.
Change Your Mask Regularly
We all sweat in the hot weather. Your face mask will quickly become uncomfortable once it becomes wet from the sweat. However, you can prevent this by bringing backup masks with you. Store clean masks in a plastic bag or a container and bring one plastic bag where you will store your used masks.
Stay Hydrated
To prevent your body from feeling hot, you should keep yourself hydrated. Make sure you drink at least two liters of water per day. You should always carry a bottle of water with you.
Make Sure Your Mask Fits You Properly
If your mask is too small, it will be uncomfortable. It will pull on your ears and make sweating worse. This is why you should wear a mask that fits your face properly. Your mask shouldn’t be too big either, as it needs to be effective. Try wearing a mask with straps that are adjustable and go around your head. This kind of masks will make it easier to adjust them to your face shape and will be more comfortable to wear during long periods as they won’t thug onto your ears.
Avoid the Hottest Part of the Day
Avoid going out in the middle of the day when the heat is at its peak. Instead, try running errands in the morning and in the evening. This will make wearing a mask more bearable, and the social distancing won’t seem as hard.
