In a move that’s shocked fast-food faithfuls and health nuts alike, McDonald’s started serving kale in one of its menu items this past week.
The promo item they’re testing is a kale, egg white and turkey sausage bowl. Right now, TakePart reports, this healthy dish will only be available in nine locations — a meager representation of the giant, worldwide chain. Where, might you ask? Southern California, obviously.
The endeavor into leafy greens comes shortly after McDonald’s joking denouncement of kale, Fortune reports.
But a McDonald’s spokeswoman told Fortune: “The ad was all about the big, juicy, iconic Big Mac and this breakfast bowl test is completely unrelated.”
Sounds like they quickly realized if you can’t fight ’em, join ’em!
