How to make apple cider vinegar at home
We love the recipe from Wellness Mama because unlike a lot of other recipes, she suggests using apple scraps you collect from other recipes. So, instead of throwing out those cores and apple peels, collect them all in a jar to use in the recipe!
All you need are apple scraps, 2 TBSP sugar, 2 cups of filtered water and a big jar! You’ll fill the jar 3/4 of the way full with the apple scraps, then pour water mixed with sugar into the jar to completely cover the scraps. Cover the top with a cheesecloth and store in a cool, dark place for two to three weeks. Stir the mix once a day to prevent any mold growth and speed up fermentation.
At the end of the fermentation period, remove the apple scraps, cover up with the cheesecloth again and store the liquid for another two to three weeks to keep fermenting. Again, stir every few days to help with the process. At the end, secure the jar with a tight lid and store in the fridge to enjoy in your ACV recipes!
