An Israeli study published last year found that people had stronger emotions at the ballot box. But even more surprisingly, their levels of cortisol—a hormone we secrete to help us manage stress—were higher than normal!
Of course, this is a short-term stressful situation, not chronic stress. Still, a little meditation before and after you check that box couldn’t hurt!
