Dairy products contain saturated fat, which increases your risk of cardiovascular disease by damaging arteries and increasing the “bad” LDL cholesterol that clogs them up. Too much saturated fat (stick to no more than 20 grams per day) also makes you put on weight, which can lead to obesity and a host of health problems. If you think skim milk tastes like water, make the switch in stages. First, mix two percent with whole, then move on to plain two percent, then mix one percent with two percent, until you’ve gradually made your way to realizing skim isn’t so bad, after all.
