That’s because soft lighting calms you and lowers your inhibitions—which, when you’re in your kitchen, means you’re more likely to feel comfortable eating more. You certainly don’t have to deck your kitchen out in fluorescent lights, but adequate lighting will help you keep an eye on what you’re doing in there. And flicking on the overheads before you dip into a midnight snack might keep you from making a midnight mistake.
