Talk about a breakthrough for skin cancer patients: Researchers at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research found that a specific gene, P-Rex1, has to be present for malignant melanoma—deadly skin cancer—to spread in a patient. If scientists can create a drug that blocks the effects of P-Rex1, they may be able to prevent melanoma from spreading. In a word: Wow.
