A Brigham Young University study of more than 100 students found that when participants lied over text, social media or instant message, they were slower to hit send. In addition to taking 10 percent longer to reply, they also edited their messages more and wrote shorter responses than usual. Something to keep in mind when you’re trying to decipher a cryptic text…or when you’re being digitally dishonest yourself.
