A smile is one of the first things people notice, but it can be difficult to maintain perfect teeth throughout your life. Most people end up getting at least one cavity in their life, which are easily fixed with fillings. But those fillings may actually be doing more harm than good, according to a study recently published in the Journal of Dentistry. Over a period of almost 5 years, dentists observed the teeth surrounding the participants’ filled tooth. They found that nearly 60 percent of volunteers had tooth decay occur to their other teeth, both on the surface and within! Well, if you needed a reason to brush more frequently, this one takes the cake (which we should probably pass on…)!
