In a University of California, Irvine, study, 711 participants reported all the stressors they faced over eight days, such as work deadlines and traffic, as well as their moods. Ten years later, the people who’d reacted more emotionally to day-to-day stress were more likely to have anxiety or depression disorders than those who took their stress in stride. It’s not about having less stress (if only!), it’s about dealing with it in healthy ways to save your sanity now—and your happiness later.
