A recent study out of the University of Liverpool found that when people do something else while they eat—like watch TV, listen to the radio, or read—they eat more than they would otherwise. And not just during that meal, but in subsequent meals, too! Paying attention while you chow down keeps you mindful of how much you’re eating, and remembering recent meals helps you eat less next time. Try keeping a food diary—or leaving the takeout container from lunch where you can see it during dinner.
