We’re celebrating World Immunization Week. Did you know getting vaccinated helps you and the community around you? It’s called “herd immunity”. Once a large percentage of a population is vaccinated against a particular illness, the whole community is protected from that illness over time. According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 5 children are still missing the life-saving immunizations that could avert 1.5 million deaths each year from preventable diseases. 16% of children are not being immunized against measles, even though a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available.
