The International Diabetes Foundation predicts that 522 million people will have diabetes by the year 2030 (compared to roughly 346 million). That’s an astonishing one in 10 people! But why is the real question. It’s not due to obesity, surprisingly—it’s more to do with age. Most cases of diabetes are Type 2, which has an onset in middle age, and is linked to weight gain and low levels of physical activity.
