Many things can cause dry skin. It can be the cause of taking a hot shower and drying yourself with a towel. It can be caused by cold weather, as your skin produces fewer oils, or it can just be your natural skin type.
Regardless of what the cause is- dry skin is the worst. It makes putting makeup on difficult and can leave you feeling insecure. Walk into your closest drug store or Sephora, and you’ll probably see a wall full of products that are labeled “for dry skin.”
Despite the crazy high prices, these products can get up to sometimes they don’t work at all. So if you’re looking for a cheap and easy dry skin remedy that you can do in the comfort of your house, look no further:
DIY Avocado Mask
Blend half an avocado with a teaspoon of olive oil and leave it on your skin for 15-20 minutes. The creamy texture will soothe and moisturize dry skin.
Oatmeal Honey Exfoliate Mask
Dry skin can build up and worsen over time if you don’t exfoliate. Combine 2 tbsp of oats with 1 tbsp of honey and a little bit of water. The oatmeal will work as an excellent exfoliate, while the honey is super moisturizing. Gently scrub it onto your face or leave on for 15-20 minutes as a mask.
Aloe Vera
Aloe vera serves many, many purposes, and smoothing dry skin is one of them. Whether you have dry skin from sunburn or cold weather, apply fresh aloe vera from a plant onto your dry skin and watch it work its magic.
Coconut Oil
Most of us have a tub of coconut oil somewhere in our house, so it’s the perfect extra moisturizing oil to use if your skin is feeling dry. Just massage the coconut oil between your fingers and apply to dry areas.
Skip The Long Showers
Long, relaxing showers are the best- unless you have dry skin. Hot water dries out or skin and removes the essential oils that keep your skin moisturized. If your skin is feeling dry, opt for a quick shower instead.
