It’s no surprise that my spirit animal Rihanna, in yet another fabulous interview, would say something I’ve been spouting to anyone who will listen even when we’re not talking about fitness (I’m a fun friend!). Her latest piece of wisdom comes in this tidbit from Vanity Fair:
“When she orders three half-portions of pasta dishes (spaghetti pomodoro with basil, gnocchi, and ravioli), I ask how she maintains her curvy but slim figure. She says, ‘Legit, I have been in the gym every day this week because I am not willing to give up my food. But I will sacrifice an hour for the gym.'”
This advice is valid for two reasons: One, it’s a reminder that you can order half-portions of food at a restaurant. And two, if Rihanna can eat what she wants and balance it with exercise, so can I. So can you! Let’s all do exactly what Rihanna does. Should we dye our hair red?
It is of course worth noting that celebrities will often order outside their typical health-crazed fare as part and parcel of these interviews, exactly to get this type of “you go girl” coverage. I don’t care one bit. Rihanna, you’re perfect.
Well, except for one… surprising comment. She does call Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who posed as black and rose to become an NAACP executive “a bit of a hero.” Not so much Rih. In more optimistic news, there are some gorgeous Annie Leibovitz-shot photos if you just want to look at her and not hear her talk:
