“Pitch Perfect” actress Rebel Wilson will team up with plus-size brand Torrid to launch a collection in sizes 12 to 28. Feel free to stand and sing in celebration.
“Rebel for Torrid”, a perfect name for a collaboration, will launch online and in stores in November 2015 just in time for holiday shopping. The limited edition collab will feature 25 pieces from a koala-print tee to bottoms, jackets, dresses and accessories.

Wilson’s statement touches on how difficult it can be to find affordable yet good quality plus-size clothing:
“I’ve had a ‘torrid’ affair with buying clothes all my life. I’ve never really felt like there’s a brand out there in the plus size world that is creating cool stuff, that fits well and is good quality yet affordable. It’s really only been in the last few years that I’ve seen companies try. So it was awesome to team with Torrid, who I think are doing such a great job in making plus size fashion relevant and dope. I’ve been loving designing the clothes for my capsule collection. I’ve been putting my unique style and personal loves into the clothing and literally can’t wait for the collection to launch!”
Wilson made similar comments in interview with Elle UK as recently as last month.
“I am the type of girl with zero fashion sense but I am getting into it now. It’s becoming important for me. I saw a lot of girls were beginning to notice what I wear and I feel a kind of responsibility, because there aren’t any women in Hollywood my size and age.”
Although Hollywood and the fashion industry’s lack of inclusivity (and, it has to be said, probably a decent paycheck from Torrid) are what brought Wilson to this point, it’s nice to see an actress jumping at the chance to be a role model for young women. Or at least to make them koala-print tees.
Torrid, who knows a good thing when it sees one, already has an additional Spring 2016 collection in the works.
