If you happen to be one of those people who set fitness goals for the new year, then you’ll want to know which trends are expected to be the most popular next year. According to a survey done by the American College of Sports Medicine, fitness technologies such as Fitbit will remain the top fitness trends of 2017. The survey asked over 1800 health and fitness professionals from across the globe what trends they see happening next year. Here’s a short list of what they came up with:

Body weight training – These sort of exercises are strength training exercises that do not require free weights or machines. The person uses their own weight to provide resistance against gravity.

High-intensity interval training – This is an exercise strategy alternating short periods of high intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods. This is also called high-intensity intermittent or sprint interval training.

Strength training – Strength training helps you to increase strength in certain isolated areas of the body.

Group training – These are exercise sessions that include a group of people of around 10 or less who work with a personal trainer. This allows the participants to receive the personalized attention without paying a high price of a one-on-one trainer.

Yoga – Unless you’ve been living under a rock, most people know what yoga is. It’s a kind of workout that combines physical strength with spiritual strength.

Personal training – Personal training is still a growing trend as more and more people are opting for it. It’s a great way to get someone to focus just on you and your workout needs.
