Bloating happens to everyone. Maybe you ate something that didn’t agree with your stomach. Perhaps you’re on your period- no matter what the cause is, we’ve all experienced bloating, and we all know how annoying it is.
There are a few things you can do, however, to relieve bloating such as eating the right foods and taking certain vitamins. You also can do certain stretches to reduce bloating that many people have found can seriously help. If you’re feeling bloated, try out one of these stretches:
Knees hugged to chest
Lie down on your back, inhale and place your hands on your knees. As you exhale, hug your knees to your chest. Then rock your knees from side to side. Stay for up to at least five breathes and let go.
One-legged seated spinal twist
Sit with your legs out in front of you, bend your right knee, and bring your heel as close to your body as possible. Reach your right arm behind you with your palm on the floor. Stay for at least five breathes, release the twist and repeat on the other side.
Seated forward bend pose
Sit with your legs out in front of you, and as you keep your back straight, slowly move forward at the hips and lower your torso. Stay for at least five breaths.
Child’s pose
Sit on your knees with your legs spaced wide apart. Lean forward and stretch your arms out in front of you. Bend forward further and try to place your forehead to the floor. Stay for at least five breaths.
Downward facing dog
Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Keep your back straight, move forward, and put your palms to the ground. Stay for at least five breaths.
