Between the ability to apply flawless liner in one try and erase a blemish on cue, makeup artists already have a pretty charmed life. But sometimes we all want to be someone else – or at least see how it would feel to walk in Kim Kardashian’s sky-high heels for a day. We’ve noticed that lately makeup artists have been putting their skills to a new test by transforming themselves into full-blown recreations of their favorite celebs. Check out some of these makeup artists who have transformed into celebs using only makeup!
1Ruby Rose
Makeup artist Kandee Johnson has transformed into everyone from Kylie Jenner to Edward Scissorhands and sharing the results on her YouTube channel. Her latest inspiration comes from her Twitter followers, who helpfully pointed out that she looks exactly like “Orange Is The New Black” actress Ruby Rose. Yup, that’s pretty damn uncanny.
Watch the video to see Johnson masterfully apply the subtle contouring and brow work that transform her to Rose, plus how she adds her tattoos with liquid eyeliner.

2Barbie
Kandee Johnson also knows how to take on an icon. For her first high-speed transformation, Kandee made herself into Barbie in less than 90 seconds. She found Barbie’s exact shade of pink lipstick and perfectly replicated Barbie’s eyeshadow and mascara. Freaky.

3Miley Cyrus
Promise Tamang loves to transform herself into Disney characters like Elsa from “Frozen,” but even she isn’t immune to the charms of just being Miley. She takes you step by step through her process from turning “[her] lil Asian self to Caucasian artist Miley Cyrus.” I’d say she killed it.

4Caitlyn Jenner
Makeup artist Paolo Ballesteros was already well known for his love of transforming into the Kardashian family. And then we met Caitlyn Jenner. Of course, Ballesteros immediately had to take on Caitlyn’s fabulous look. With body and face contouring, hair extensions, and a subtle lip, he nailed it it!
5Queen Elizabeth
Lucia Pittallis is an Italy-based makeup artist and she looks the part: olive skin, long, dark hair. But you would never guess that by her transformations, like this one into Queen Elizabeth in honor of the Queen’s 89th birthday. We’re not sure we want to know how to contour in wrinkles, but the great thing about being a makeup artist is that you can put your creativity to good use!
