Cinnamon is a beloved flavor in gum, coffee and candles – and apparently, it can work wonders on your outsides, too! The spice contains calcium, fiber, iron and manganese, and within its bark are healing essential oils. So, with that in mind, use generously! Here are some of our favorite uses for cinnamon as a beauty product — some good enough to eat!
DIY Cinnamon Recipes For Your Face:
- Cinnamon Nutmeg Mask: This delicious-smelling mask packs a punch against acne, as cinnamon is antimicrobial and honey is a natural antibacterial humectant. Mix 2 Tbsp honey, 1 tsp nutmeg and 1 tsp cinnamon to form a paste. Apply to the face as you would any other mask, and let sit for 30 minutes. Upon rinsing, massage off in an exfoliating, circular motion to reduce redness, swelling and slough off dead skin.
- Cinnamon Scrub: For a straight up scrub, you can mix 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp sugar and 1 tbsp honey. Apply to the face, scrubbing gently, for soft, smooth skin.
- Cinnamon Lip Plumper: Attention Kylie Jenner! You don’t need lip injectables for a bigger pout, you just need a little bit of cinnamon. Simply apply olive oil or Vaseline to the lips and gently pat a pinch of cinnamon on top, patting along the length of the lips. If the mixture burns too much, rinse off completely. Added bonus? If you accidentally ingest any, the cinnamon refreshes your breath!
- DIY Cinnamon Bronzer: You can create a DIY cream bronzer (steps and instructions via Hello Natural) or you can simply take a few pinches to start of cinnamon powder, 1 tsp baby powder (or cornstarch) and mix, adding cinnamon until you’ve reached your desired shade. Then simply apply with a blush brush and you have a golden, natural glow.
