Applying crusty mascara, cake-y foundation and flakey eyeshadows that never fail to irritate my contacts is an every day fiasco for women like myself who wear makeup regularly. Amy Schumer, the current queen of comedy (in my opinion), has brought this issue to light with one of her funniest sketches from the third season of her show, “Inside Amy Schumer.”

The sketch (watch below) features a typical heart-throb boyband urging Amy to throw out all of her makeup with their bird-like voices. “You don’t need no lipstick, you don’t need no blush. Because you’ve got that inner natural glow,” they purr lovingly. However, surprise! (not), their positive message quickly takes quite the turn. After seeing Amy without makeup, they essentially beg her to put it back on, showing the complete hypocrisy behind men’s view of makeup.”Girl, you don’t need makeup. You’re perfect when you wake up. Just don’t go outside like that, okay?” WOW.

Shortly after the sketch aired, Amy reached out to fans urging them to share a few no-makeup selfies using the hashtag #GirlYouDontNeedMakeup on Instagram and Twitter.

Once Amy posted her own #GirlYouDontNeedMakeup selfie, the amazing responses came flooding in.

If men had to swipe a tar-like substance along their tiny eyelashes every morning, while also smearing thick, pasty foundation across their skin, I bet they’d be a bit more understanding on our days that we choose not to wear makeup. Nonetheless, kudos to Amy for empowering us all!
