More than 150 days have gone by since Breonna Taylor was murdered in her sleep, and justice has still not be served. People across the country are using social media as a medium to advocate for change and to demand justice for Taylor, and yet nothing has been done. And that is where Phenomenal Woman has come into play.
Phenomenal Woman is an action campaign to raise awareness and funds for social causes that impact women. And their most recent creation is a T-shirt that demands justice for Breonna Taylor. The campaign and T-shirt is an effort done with the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), Phenomenal Woman, and the Breonna Taylor Foundation in attempt to demand justice for Taylor and her family.
The campaign has inspired moe than 80 celebrities to join in on the movement. The T-shirt says “arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor” on the front and “say her name” on the back, with a picture of Taylor. It was created in partnership with the Breonna Taylor foundation, with 100% of proceeds donated to it.
A multitude of celebrities have joined in on the efforts and posted pictures of themselves wearing the shirt on Instagram. Some of the celebrities who participated in the effort are Nina Dobrev, Eva Mendes, Amy Schumer, Jessica Alba, and many more.
“It’s been 150 days since Breonna Taylor was murdered in her sleep by Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove — and her killers have not been charged,” the various posts read. “Too often Black women who die from police violence are forgotten.”
“Let’s stay loud, keep demanding justice for Breonna and her family, and SAY HER NAME,” the posts read. “Proud to stand with WNBA players in joining this campaign, created by @phenomenal in partnership with the Breonna Taylor Foundation, to which all profits from tees will be donated.”
The shirts are currently available for preorder and are launching on August 31. You can find the shirt here.
