It’s officially Pride Month, and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are celebrating with a tribute to the LGBTQ+ community. The royal couple shared a series of photos on Instagram to commemorate the holiday.
Meghan and Prince Harry are aiming to bring more awareness to the LGBTQ+ community and other social issues. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex promised they would only use their Instagram platform to advocate for issues important to them, which they seem to be sticking to resolutely. They even rotate their “Following” lists to revolve around charities they are currently involved with. Currently, the couple follows various LGBTQ+ accounts, including It Gets Better, Human Rights Campaign, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Trevor Project, and many more.
The series of photos they posted align with their current objectives, captioning the rainbow-inspired photos with “For the month of June, we ‘proudly’ shine a light on PRIDE.” Their attempts of reaching out to more significant social causes do not go unnoticed, as they elaborate further by saying how “This month we pay tribute to the accounts supporting the LGBTQ+ community — those young and old, their families and friends, accounts that reflect on the past and are hopeful for a deservedly more inclusive future.” Meghan and Prince Harry stand firmly in their beliefs and want to use their social media platforms for good.
Meghan and Prince Harry aim to make it clear the public of their support of the LGBTQ+ community. “We stand with you and support you. Because it’s very simple: love is love.”
