Class of 2020 is getting hit hard by COVID-19, to say the least. Graduation ceremonies across the globe have been postponed, if not cancelled, as high schoolers and college students alike grieve what was supposed to be a monumental moment in their lives. And although there may not be graduation ceremonies, Facebook and Instagram have created a way to still celebrate.
Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Garner, Awkwafina, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, and many other celebrities have come together for the first ever virtual #Graduation2020 event!
The event will premiere on Facebook on May 15 at 2 p.m. ET. These various musicians will perform and share their own wisdom to graduating seniors across the nation. Oprah Winfrey will be delivering the commencement speech and Miley Cyrus will be preforming the iconic song “The Climb.” Various high schools and colleges across the nation will be mentioned throughout the ceremony and deans and principals from many schools will also make an appearance.
There is no doubt these are difficult times for graduating seniors, so Facebook and Instagram want to make the situation a little bit better. In addition to the ceremony, Instagram is creating a #Graduation2020 hashtag and both Facebook and Instagram stories are coming out with new music stickers.
Talk about a graduation to remember?! Bet you never imagined Oprah Winfrey would be giving your commencement speech!
