Doctors have confirmed what you/horny boys everywhere probably already knew: 2014 was the year of the butt.
NBC News reports that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons surveyed 953 doctors and found that the number of silicone butt implants doubled to 1,863 nationwide last year. In addition to silicone butt implants, there were 11,000 procedures of the less-invasive “Brazilian,” an operation that transplants fat from elsewhere on your body (a 15% increase).
Another trade organization, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, also found that augmentations doubled from 11,527 procedures in 2013 to 21,446 in 2014. “Everywhere you look in the media, butts are in,” Dr. Scott Glasberg, president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, told NBC News.

Some blame the medical industrial complex themselves for pushing the shift. Victoria Pitts-Taylor, a Wesleyan University professor and author of Surgery Junkies: Wellness and Pathology in Cosmetic Culture told NBC News that doctors use direct-to-consumer advertising, online forums, and reality TV shows to stoke a growth market. And certain celebrities have long known that putting their butts front and center will get them attention.
Jax Taylor got a nose job on “Vanderpump Rules.” Shall we blame “Anaconda” or Jen Selter’s Instagram for your aunt’s thirstiness for a new booty? Perhaps the biggest booty culprit in modern culture, Kim Kardashian chose to celebrate her 27 million Instagram followers with a belfie rather than a selfie.
