From nude shoes to nude bras, many times what’s sold as a “nude” shade only complements a limited range of skin tones, i.e. white women. But several beauty and skincare lines are stepping up, diversifying the shades they offer to include nude tones that flatter nearly every skin color.
The latest is Lauren B. Beauty’s Nail Couture Nude Collection. The new polish line includes five nude shades: Nude No. 1 (porcelain with a hint of peach for fair skin tones), Nude No. 2 (a champagne shade with a hint of honey for light skin tones), Nude No. 3 (a nude with gold and caramel undertones for medium skin tones), Nude No. 4 (a tawny amber for tanned or deep olive skin tones), and Nude No. 5 (espresso brown for dark skin tones). Each polish is $18, or $75 for the entire collection.
“When I launched Lauren B., I set out to create a neutral collection that was sophisticated, chic, and crafted to suit every skin tone from the lightest to the darkest — so you’re guaranteed to find one that works for you,” Lauren B. told YouBeauty. “After I launched this collection, I saw that women were buying them all — not just their own perfect nude shade but also experimenting with shades lighter and darker than their own.”
Along with offering a “rainbow” of nude shades, Lauren B., whose uncle is hair care guru Philip B., wanted to create long-lasting lacquers that are alternatives to gel manicures. “The nude collection and all of my colors feature high shine, glossy finishes that last for up to 14 days,” she said. Lauren B. was also committed to making sure that her polishes, which are made in the U.S., don’t contain any harsh chemicals, so they are all 5-free: free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP (dibutyl phthalate), toluene, or camphor. They’re also never tested on animals and are vegan-friendly. Sounds like a perfect match to us!
