Less than 12 hours after giving birth to little Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, new mom Kate Middleton stood and waved to photographers on the steps outside the Lindo Wing of London’s St. Mary’s Hospital like, well, like someone who is followed around by paparazzi as part of a weird obligation to her country. The UK’s Mirror got the deetss on how Middleton left the hospital looking like the future queen she is (as opposed to someone who had just had an eight-pound human emerge from her body):
The duchess’ stylist Amanda Cook Tucker arrived at the hospital at around 1p.m. (before the Middleton grandparents!) to prettify her famous chestnut brown locks. According to the Mirror, Tucker is paid £300 (about $453 USD) plus travel expenses per session.
For her first post-baby appearance on the steps of the Lindo Wing, Middleton wore a custom-made Jenny Packham silk shift dress, the same designer she wore when introducing Prince George to the world on those same steps almost two years ago. Packham Instagrammed a shot of the happy couple with the caption, “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby daughter. The Duchess wears a bespoke silk shift dress with buttercup print. JP x”.
According to the Mirror, Packham’s non-custom dresses cost anywhere from £2,000 and £3,000. Perhaps the designer will see fit to rise her prices after this latest publicity boost?
But the dress alone wasn’t what made the Duchess of Cambridge stand out. For one, she was wearing heels, which The Mirror has identified as the sensible (on any other day) 3.3 inch Jimmy Choo Gilbert.

Her makeup, which was likely finished with Tucker’s helping hand, was reportedly Bobbi Brown’s eye cream, concealer and eyebrow powder. She is also said to have used lip liner and a blush-pink lipstick from Peter Jones department store in Chelsea, London. Now if we only knew her choice of shades, we could easily pull off this outfit for Halloween.
Do you have any more questions about what Kate Middleton was wearing after she gave birth? Okay, one more question.
But were the Duchess’ nails painted a natural, clear color? Yes, they were painted a natural clear color. Probably a mixture of Essie Allure and Bourjois’ So Laque ultra-shine nail enamel.
Congratulations to Duchess Kate and Prince William on Princess Charlotte, and congratulations to all of us on our newfound knowledge of her post-pregnancy beauty routine. Maybe this will all be a question on Jeopardy some day.
