Blackheads can be an inconvenience when it comes to wanting a clear complexion. They can be challenging to get rid of and hard to prevent, especially if you have oily skin. With professional facials still out of the question for many of us, we thought we would share how you can safely and effectively eliminate blackheads from the comfort of your own home.
Chemically Exfoliate
Chemical exfoliators are great for dissolving dead skin cells. They provide a deeper clean than a cleanser or standard exfoliator. Salicylic acid is an excellent antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory skin care ingredient that works wonders on oily skin types. It is a hydroxy acid that works by banishing excess oils and dead skin, it also helps clear up blackheads. Introduce this product into your routine if you suffer from blackheads, and they should eventually clear up.
Steam and Exfoliate
Steaming the skin opens up your pores allowing you to then give them a good, deep clean. Steam your face and follow with your favorite cleanser. We then recommend using an exfoliating scrub, but nothing too abrasive as these can be harsh and damaging on your skin. If you want a more delicate alternative, use a muslin cloth or bamboo cloth with your cleanser to gently exfoliate the skin. This will help to remove any excess dirt or oil in your pores as well as pesky blackheads.
Use a Face Oil To Moisturize
When we suffer from dry skin, our sebum glands react by producing excess oil. As a result, our pores can become clogged. It’s vital that despite common misconceptions about moisturizing oily skin, you continue to moisturize. Oils are great for adding moisture, and they can also help dislodge any stubborn blackheads for easier removal.
