I love makeup … but I don’t love carrying around makeup. That’s why I’m all about palettes that make it easy to just toss a brush in my bag and go. Pixi by Petra has made some consistently excellent ones for Target over the years and her latest one, Summer Glow, ($28) is no exception. It comes with a bronzer, a blush, and a cheek highlighter, as well as nine different eyeshadow shades plus three highlighters for eyes. The colors are pretty, glow-y and low-key, so you won’t look too made-up on an easy summer weekend as you frolic around not complaining about how heavy your bag is.
I know what you’re thinking. “Body Glide For Her” sounds like a sexual lubricant. That would be a good name for lube. Alas, Body Glide For Her ($7.99) is actually a vitamin-packed, vegan, anti-chafing/anti-blister balm which has become my must-have product for summer sandals. All you do is rub the wax-like balm anywhere that you want to prevent discomfort — inner thighs, your arms, your feet — and then forget about it. (To be fair, I haven’t used it on my body, only on my feet.) The product is invisible and doesn’t feel sticky or rub off on your clothes or shoes. All the blisters I am not suffering from are thanks to Body Glide. And if we have any cyclist readers, you may want to check out Cycle, the brand’s anti-saddle sore balm.
It’s expensive enough to get your hair cut and colored. That‘s why I appreciate how I can get great shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair at my local drugstore. The DESSANGE Paris Salon Color Restore Collection ($9.99 – $11.99) keeps my hair clean, soft and fluffy without affecting my color. (I have not tried it myself yet, but DESSANGE also makes a top coat serum to help keep colored hair extra-shiny.)
Until next time …
