When the weather starts to get cold, leaving the house gets less and less tempting. Nothing sounds better than snuggling up on the couch with a warm pumpkin spice latte on a chilly fall morning. And the best part about staying inside in the fall is the DIY beauty products.
Long gone are the days of just pumpkin spice drinks, you can now find just about anything pumpkin spice in the fall. And you can even make your own pumpkin spice and fall-inspired beauty products, so next time you avoid all your responsibilities by doing a face mask, at least it will smell like fall.
Pumpkin, almond oil, brown sugar, and honey face mask
A face mask, or a delicious spread? These face masks will smell as good as they feel and shrink your pores, all at the same time. Combine pumpkin puree, almond oil, brown sugar, and honey in a bowl, and you’ve got yourself a pumpkin spice face mask. The honey is moisturizing, and the brown sugar serves as a great natural exfoliator.
Pumpkin cream face mask
All you need for this deliciously smelling face mask is two tablespoons of fresh cream, four tablespoons of pumpkin puree, and three tablespoons of honey. Combine them all in a bowl and leave on your skin for 10 minutes. This creamy and moisturizer face mask is perfect when your skin starts to get dry in the colder weather.
Honey cinnamon lip scrubs
Lip scrubs are necessary all year round, but especially so in the fall. The fall and winter seasons make our lips dry and chapped, but a good lip scrub will do the fix. And there’s no reason to shell out tons of money for something expensive when you can make one in the comfort of your own home with ingredients you probably already have. Combine 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 Tbsp. unrefined coconut oil, 1 Tbsp. raw, unfiltered honey, and 1 tsp. cinnamon powder in a bowl and scrub onto your lips.
Pumpkin shea butter
It’s good enough that you can make your home smell like a pumpkin with candles, but even better when you can make your body smell like a pumpkin with homemade shea butter. All you need for this creamy and smooth pumpkin lotion is a pumpkin scented essential oil, 2 cups of coconut oil, and 8 oz of shea butter. Mix them in a bowl, and you’ve got yourself a perfect fall-inspired lotion that will leave your skin smooth and smelling like fall.
Pumpkin spice sugar scrub
This scrub smells amazing and will exfoliate your skin through cold fall days. Combine 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of coconut oil, 1/2 tsp. of vitamin E oil, one tsp. of pumpkin pie spices, and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract in a bowl until it forms a scrub consistency. Scrub on dry areas or your entire body, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then rinse off in the shower (and preferably follow up with the pumpkin shea butter).
Pumpkin pie soap
If you’ve never made homemade soap, you’re seriously missing out. Handmade soap is excellent for your skin as it doesn’t contain any of the unnecessary additives found in store-bought soap, and you can customize with your favorite scents- or in this case, just a bunch of pumpkin spice. Combine 2 lbs of soap base with red and yellow soap colorant and pumpkin pie spice, and you’ve got yourself a perfect gift to give to friends this fall season.
