We’ve been obsessed with contouring since Kim Kardashian introduced us to the magical art of face sculpting and hiding every imperfection. It quickly became an essential step in our makeup routine. So, of course, we’re reviewing some of the best contour kits on the market for every skin type!
1Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour kit
Let’s start by saying Anastasia does contouring right! The natural shadows of your face should get enhanced when you contour. Luckily, the shades in this palette aren’t too orange or brown. Havana has a bit of warmth depending on your skin tone, but compared to a bronzer, this shade is still cooler-toned, like a contour product should be. Each shade in the palette has a subtle sheen, but comes in a matte/satin finish, except for Sand, which has a beige frosted finish. Get it at Sephora for $40.
2Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit
This palette is my life. As a makeup addict and beauty blogger that has tried it all, I can undoubtedly say this palette is by FAR the best contour kit ever. I am fair, and I mean, “I can barely find my shade” fair because most brands don’t go light enough! I tell you this because the colors in this palette can look intimidating. You see a DARK brown and the medium brown and start to panic, but don’t! These are the softest, most blendable powders, and the colors are perfect. Available at Sephora and ULTA for $35.
3Too Faced Cocoa Contour Chiseled to Perfection
Great for a beginner at contouring! I LOVE this. It smells incredible and looks great when applied. It works brilliantly! The different color variations give you the ability to do a deep contour or a light one depending on how you feel. They’re also very soft shades, so they’re easy to blend! All three types of contour powders are useable for light skin tones too. Although this contour kit is sold out almost everywhere, you can still find it at Amazon for $35.
4Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Match Stix Matte SkinStick
My favorite product from the Fenty Beauty line! I LOVE the formula of these sticks. They are easy to blend and can be used anywhere from the eyes to your decollete. Great for sculpting and stays on all day. Then again, can we expect anything less from Rihanna? Available at Sephora for $54 (3 sticks).
5Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter
This palette can be used for heavier night looks as well as natural daytime makeup. You will not regret buying it. Plus, it’s perfect for oily skin that easily breaks out. I’m obsessed with this product because of its soft and non-comedogenic formula. You can get it at Urban Decay for $45.
6NYX Professional Makeup Highlight and Contour Pro Palette
The colors are very pigmented, remarkably blendable, and easy to use. Try using it as an eyeshadow base. This powder doesn’t crease under the eyes so that it can be used as an extra layer for setting. Go in with a light hand, though, because a little goes a long way! Available at Sephora for $19.
