The first thing I noticed when I met professional soccer player Alex Morgan was her shiny, lustrous hair. It was so stunning that I couldn’t help myself from blurting out “You have great hair! What do you do to it?!” But thankfully my hair fan-girling was not at all off-putting to her — turns out the Olympic gold medalist can just as naturally talk about beauty products as she can about sports.
Here’s here answer about the hair question, by the way: “I try to only wash it every four days.” Which seems like the answer these days from people with fabulous hair (I’m talking to you, Kim Kardashian West.) Morgan swears by dry shampoo — Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo ($22) is her favorite. After a sweaty workout, she usually will just give her hair a good rinse to get the sweat out, and tries to limit the actual shampooing to twice a week. “If it’s extremely gross looking or greasy then I’ll wash it,” she said.
Morgan’s a confident, 25-year-old woman, and you can tell her attitude is years in the making. “Just playing sports in general when I was younger helped me become confident and just believe in what I have to bring and who I am as a person,” she explained. “It shaped who I was and who I’ve become.” Now, with her gold medal win and the fame that’s come along with being a player on the U.S. women’s natonal soccer team, she recognizes the responsibility she has as a role model for young girls.
