Picture this: You did your entire skincare routine and went to bed with skin as clear as ever. You wake up, go to wash your face, and boom, there’s a pimple right in the middle of your chin. We’ve all been there.
You weren’t expecting this, and you certainly aren’t prepared. You might have an acne treatment lying around your bathroom, but if that fails, don’t fret yet. All you have to do is look in your kitchen. Sometimes the best natural acne treatments are found right in your kitchen cabinet, so the next time you wake up with a dreaded pimple, try one of these out.
Turmeric
You’ve probably seen that bright orange jar in your spice cabinet and wondered: what the hell is that? It’s turmeric, and it’s great for your skin. Turmeric is full of anti-bacterial properties, which helps get rid of redness and inflammation. Just mix it with water until it’s a paste and make sure you don’t leave it on for too long, or else it can stain your skin!
Honey
We all have honey lying around somewhere in our kitchen, and it is excellent for the skin! You can make your own honey face mask with cinnamon and apply it to your skin to treat redness and inflammation.
Apple Cider Vinegar
If you’re not a fan of the famous apple cider vinegar shots, don’t throw it away just yet! Instead, use it on your skin! You can use ACV as a toner to clean your skin and help fight acne. Just make sure you dilute it with water to a 1:3 ratio before applying.
Green Tea
While green tea is a great drink and full of health properties, it also works wonders on your skin. You can use green tea leaves or make a facial scrub or mask to help fight off inflammation.
Yogurt
Pull out that tub of (plain) yogurt from your fridge and make it into a skincare product! The probiotics and B vitamins in yogurt make it great for your skin as it helps to relieve acne.
Lemon Juice
The high amounts of vitamin C in lemon juice make it great for your skin as it treats acne and removes dead skin cells. Make a face mask with lemon juice and honey and apply it to your face for refreshed and cleansed skin.
