UPDATE, 5/1/15 at 2:45pm:
Selena Gomez allegedly responded to a body shamer who criticized her physique on her Instagram account recently, according to US Weekly reports. She allegedly wrote:
“You’re disgusting. IM IN the business and I could care less about what ‘they’ or you say I should look like. I don’t need to do anything other than love myself, take care of my work, fans, family and friends.”
Selena then went on to say: “And I do work out. It’s not your place to tell anyone what they should or should not do.” While it’s usually not the best idea to respond to social media trolls, it’s understandable Selena would want to stand up for herself. Let the girl live, people!
Original Post:
Abigail Breslin has had enough with fat-shaming in Hollywood, especially against her fellow former child star Selena Gomez. Gomez was recently the target of quite a bit of criticism after photos of her on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in a pink string bikini surfaced. Trying to put an end to the harsh words, Gomez praised her body in an Instagram picture that she captioned, “I love being happy with me yall #theresmoretolove”:

Even though Selena clearly articulated happiness with her fit physique, “fans” continued to comment hateful remarks towards the stars body. Which is where Abigail Breslin decided she has had enough with the ongoing criticism.
Yahoo! Celebrity reports that Breslin clapped back at Selena’s haters in a recent Tumblr post:
“All this stuff about Selena Gomez online in her bathing suit is RIDICULOUS. Everyone is always saying how we shouldn’t judge each other, so why are you commenting on a gorgeous, talented and smart young girls body when she’s on the beach having fun with her friends AND SHE LOOKS AMAZING.”
Breslin then went on to throw shade at the real problem here, Hollywood’s ridiculous beauty standards:
“How are young girls supposed to grow up normally and not feel bad about themselves and not develop eating disorders if it’s literally national headline news that a THIN girl may or may not have put on a few pounds, and YET still remains THIN?”
Pop singers Kelly Clarkson and Pink have also been targets of fat-shaming attacks recently, leading one to believe that weight critics are getting out of control lately. That’s why it is all the more refreshing to hear one young celebrity woman stand up for another, rather than simply adding to the hateful words.
Breslin wrapped up her sentiments with a sweet shout-out to Selena: “Selena, you look amazing and more importantly look like you’re having fun. Keep rocking those bikinis.” To that we say, Amen, sister!
