We’re looking forward to a lot of Blockbuster films this year, but with Valentine’s Day around the corner (kind of) we’ve got our eyes set on some romantic flicks too! We all love a good rom-com, especially with Jennifer Aniston at the helm, but there’s also beauty in an epic romance like The Notebook that gets our eyes teary and our hearts pumping.
If you’re looking for a romantic flick to take your date night to this year, these will be your best bets for a cozy cuddle time in the theatre.
1. The Lovebirds
Opens: April 3, 2020
Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae team up in this romantic comedy about a couple on the brink of a breakup. Just as they get ready to part ways, they get embroiled in a murder mystery they need to work together to solve. This sounds like a Game Night romantic comedy flick we can’t wait to see!
2. Emma
Opens: February 21, 2020
Done with Little Women and wondering when the next adaptation hits the big screens? The classic Jane Austen story about a young woman who loves paying matchmaker should be on your list. Yup, we saw Gwyneth Paltrow as Emma in 1996 and now we’re getting a new remake!
3. What About Love
Opens: February 14, 2020
Yes, it’s a romantic movie opening on Valentine’s Day! Nothing earth-shattering, but if you’re looking for something sweet and truly romantic, this story about a young couple facing a tragedy will tug at your heartstrings.
4. I Still Believe
Opens: March 20, 2020
Tearjerker alert! KJ Apa, aka Archie from Riverdale, plays a young man who find out his wife is diagnosed with cancer before they’re supposed to get married.
5. West Side Story
Opens: December 18, 2020
This is a classic we can watch adaptations of forever. Tony and Maria fall in love despite belonging to rival street gang families. Ah, the modern Shakespeare take on life.
