Most women spend more time than they care to admit applying powder to shape their brows. They carefully draw neat lines to shape perfect arches and work away to fill in sparse spots only to see their art work smudge and fade before lunch. Frustration spurs them to experiment with microblading, but who could love the needles and high price tag? The solution to the quest for beautiful brows has arrived in the form of a new product: the brow tint pen.

Maybelline New York has introduced its Tattoo Studio Brow Tint Pen. You may think at first glimpse that the pen is a microblading tool, but don’t be fooled. There’s no pain for gain with the Maybelline product. No stinging tattoo to deposit ink beneath the skin’s surface.

The pen’s multi-prong slanted tip simply and easily draws on color with incredibly realistic strokes that look like real eyebrow hairs. The coverage is natural looking and long lasting enough to make you abandon investing in those fast disappearing brow powders. Maybelline swears the long-lasting formula delivers up to 24-hour wear that is smudge-proof and transfer-proof.

You can even use the Tattoo Studio Brow Tint Pen like a regular brow pencil by swiping it horizontally in the fuller ends of the brows where you don’t need as much definition. The price is just a few dollars and a real bargain compared to the expense of microblading.

A word of caution: one of the first reviewers says her Tattoo Studio Brow Tint ran down her face when she got caught in a sudden downpour. You may want to try an experiment at home before you emerge into a rain shower.

The price of the Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Tint Pen is $9.99 on Ulta.

An alternative from Etude House was actually the first multi-pronged brow pen on the market. Etude House says the Tint My 4-Tip Brow pen offers color that is water-proof and oil-proof and lasts up to two or three days without smudging. The pen allows you to create a more natural-looking brow with hair-like strokes. The cost is $11.10.
