Planned Parenthood wants to eliminate “I’m too busy” from the list of reasons why people skip regular STD tests. This week, they’re launching Planned Parenthood Direct, a new app that lets users order on-demand chlamydia and gonorrhea testing via their mobile — and even receive treatment if necessary.
The app will pilot in California and is available for both iPhone and Android, according to VICE. You download it to your phone and create a profile (the only two stipulations are that users are 16+ and have a California mailing address), enter your payment information, and receive a discreetly packaged STD testing kit along with a prepaid return shipping label. Mail your sample (AKA a cup of urine) back to Planned Parenthood, and results come in within a few days. Your $149 also covers lab results. The cost of any medication is separate, although it may be covered by your insurance provider.

Depending on your results, the app will guide your next steps. If you test positive for gonorrhea, it will direct you to your nearest Planned Parenthood clinic for an injection. For chlamydia, you’ll be routed to a pharmacy for a prescription. Download Planned Parenthood Direct here.
Chlamydia and gonorrhea are two of the trickiest STDs to notice without regular testing. As NPR points out, chlamydia is one of the most commonly reported STDs in the United States, but since it has no symptoms, it often goes untreated. Gonorrhea may or may not have symptoms.
